A temperature higher than 38 degrees Celsius is considered a fever. The person who doesn’t know how good fever is for us and how it helps us is mostly afraid. When fighting an infection, fever is desirable, it is a defence mechanism to deal with an invader that is attacking our organism.

Fever = properly functioning immunity, so let’s be happy for it. During a fever, the body temperature increases, in this environment, for example, viruses are no longer able to reproduce, the high temperature kills them. Doctors differ in their opinions on how to behave during a fever. Some recommend reducing it, others advise letting the fever run its course. In our family, we do not reduce the fever, we try to strengthen the organism, we also give it enough rest so that it can fight the disease.

Some reach for paracetamol at a temperature of 37.5 and thus completely take away their body´s chance to somehow defend itself, so it has barely started with the number 1 line of defence. I understand that some people panic as soon as they get an elevated temperature, because the scenario of fever = illness = that’s wrong = get rid of it quickly means take fever medicine. At the same time, when you knock down the so-called fever, not only do you hinder the recovery, but after a while it will start to climb again, because the body is not easily fooled and wants to help itself, and that is precisely the moment when the temperature rises and you are most sick. Those familiar chills, pain or vomiting.

The problem arises when the fever is too high or lasts a long time. In this case, a visit to the doctor is not out of the question, fever doesn´t always accompany flu-like illnesses.

We can also help with homeopathic remedies.

Here is a basic overview of remedies, we choose according to the symptoms, we note accompanying symptoms (feeling of thirst, chills, moods, liveliness, apathy, etc.)

Aconitum – Sudden high fever, dry skin, thirst, accompanied by anxiety

Belladonna – intense high fever with sudden onset, dilated pupils, mild sweating, flushed face, delirium

Bryonia – gradual onset of fever, irritability, convulsions, seeks absolute immobility

Arsenicum album – restlessness, paleness, chills, burning pains, weakness

Eupatorium – the fever is accompanied by a feeling of weakness and convulsions of the whole body, pain in the eyes when moving

Ferrum phosphoricum – lower, more slowly rising temperature, face alternately pale and red, skin moist, tendency to bleed

Gelsemium – slow onset, exhaustion, lack of thirst, lethargy

Mercurius solubilis – fever with chills and sweats, accompanied by yellow-green secretions

Rhus toxicodendron – fever associated with restlessness

Administering these remedies does not mean that the fever stops immediately, but subjectively we feel better. The dosage depends on the condition and the further course. In the event of a sudden acute flare-up, we administer a potency of 15 CH, even every half hour, after improvement we extend the intervals.
